Macrame Hanging Cradle

A hand-knotted cotton cradle that hangs from the ceiling, with a soft cushion in the base. It is the first cat bed we have found that you might actually want on display.

Size

85 cm from the hanging ring to the bottom of the fringe, with a basket 30 cm across. Most of that height is cord and tassel — the part your cat lies in is the bowl at the bottom. It suits a cat, not a dog.

Hanging it safely

It hangs from a single ring. Fix it to a ceiling joist, a proper wall anchor or a sturdy bracket — never a plasterboard hook or an adhesive hanger. The maker does not publish a load limit, so use a fixing rated well above your cat's weight, and pull on it hard yourself before you let them near it.

Whether your cat will actually use it

A hanging bed moves. Some cats claim it within the hour and sleep there every day; others look at it once and go back to the sofa. If yours dislikes anything unsteady, one of our floor beds is the safer bet — we would rather say so now than take the order and the return.

What it is made of

Cotton cord throughout, knotted by hand, with a fleece cushion sitting in the base. Spot clean the macrame; wash the cushion cool and dry it flat.
